Hardiboard and Sheetrock

The front door was delivered and put in place. I LOVE the door! We got a great deal on it and I am happy with the decison of going with the 8' door instead of the standard 6'8".

Hardiboard really took off and the guys finished most of the front and half of the side of the house. The eaves of the front and back will be shake and hopefully that will go up next week.

Pocket door frames and Sheet Rock began going up this week. The guys worked really fast and it really shaped it into a house. We are really able to envision the size of rooms.

Window Trim and Brick

I rounded the corner and saw this crazy guy up on the roof. It scared me to death. He was working on the trim. Bless him.

Trim around all the windows started going on. They are the primer color now, but will be painted white.

Brick is a hard decision. We had always thought we would do stone, but after seeing the price difference, we were able to find some brick we really liked. It is a new brick, so we were only able to look at a few house examples. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Brick will also go on the bottom part of the columns.

I feel like I take this picture a lot, but with the addition of brick, it was needed. :)

Finishing up Framing

The Media Room Platform was finally framed out. John might have been a little excited!

We made the entry into the dining room an arch and I LOVE IT!

This fun little nook is in the playroom and has already been identified by Emma as "her reading nook"

The fireplace is in and the hearth framed out.

They put the top window in and arched the front entrance. It is shaping up!

Windows

We drove by today and we have a few windows in!! Woohoo!

Bless this House

Sunday was a cold day to hang out the house for a long time, but it was a free day for us and no workers to look out for. Plus it was January 1st and it seemed like a great way to start our year! I had received a great idea from Sydney when she was building her house. They wrote verses on the door frames right after the framing part and before sheetrock. I loved the idea!

We wrote down some of our favorite verses and verses we have prayed for the house and for the girls over the years. John and I used the verse from our wedding in our room. Emma chose her favorite verse for her room (John 3:16). We used Brooklyn's birth announcement verse in her room. It was fun to do as a family and of course, the girls loved the freedom of writing on the walls with Sharpies! :)
