Interior Pictures

John and I walked through the house with Ben the other day. There were some things we needed to decide on and changes that needed to be made. The roof created some interior angles we were not expecting, so we had to problem solve a few areas.
While we were in there, I snapped a few pics!
The exterior is taking shape and we really know what it is going to look like!
The girls shower was put in!

The media room: This is where the screen will go and recessed cabinets and shelves below.

This is the view out the back as you are coming down the entry hall. It is going to be pretty.

And, the not very exciting, but very essential: Plumbing!

Taking Shape

John only had to work half a day today, so we took the girls over to the house and let them go upstairs for the first time. They were so excited to see their rooms and John was excited to see his "man cave".

Harmono, the man in charge of the framing, is awesome! He speaks amazing English and is really good at what he does. He has already caught and fixed 3 things without us even seeing them. He genuinely wants to do a good job and said, "I want to build a house the way I would want my families house to be."

This the front of the house as of today! I love seeing it all take form. We have seen it on paper for 2 years.

This is our first time up the stairs as a family:

Emma standing in her room for the first time! They have not completely finished framing out her room.

This is Brooklyn in her room. Yes, she is to close to that window for my liking, but she was fine.

To my Parents.....

This post is dedicated to my parents, so they can see that my college education and my degree in Interior Design has paid off!
As a side note, they have wholeheartedly supported our decision for me to stay home with our girls! I just thought they would like this picture.

The Dream....

This house has been many years in the making! I have piles of magazine cut outs that I have saved for at least 15 or more years. Many days tweaking floor plans and asking trusted friends opinions. Much prayer has been put into where we should build, IF we should build, who should build it, etc....Many thoughts of family traditions in this house. Hopes for a home where people feel welcome. A safe haven for Emma, Brooklyn and their friends to hang out. Many dreams and prayers!

To drive up on Saturday morning and see walls and to actually walk through our dream home was a pretty cool thing.

Surprise!

I drove by the house on Friday afternoon and it looked as if they had delivered some wood to begin framing.
All four of us drove back by after Brooklyn's Christmas program and we had some walls. John shone the car lights on the house, so we could all see!

A Firm Foundation

I drove by the house yesterday expecting there to not be much going on, but I was wrong. The concrete truck was there and our foundation was about half way finished!

I ran home to get my "work boots", so I could date the front porch! The guys made fun of me because I dated it 2012 for our move in date rather than the actual year.

Plumbing

After the gravel was in the footings, they installed the plumbing. It was crazy to see exactly where our kitchen sink would be and all of our potties. :)

Gravel Trucks

Brooklyn and I came home from BSF on Wednesday and drove by the lot to see what was going on. We got there just in time to watch the trucks dumping the gravel into the footings. It was so fun to watch!

Footings

The house is really starting to take shape! The footings are there and we can see the outline of our dream house.

Breaking Ground

I dropped Emma off at school on December 1st and then drove by our lot on my way to take Brooklyn to school. I saw people working and dirt being dug. Halleluiah! It was a happy day!!! John and I have dreamed of this day for so long and it is finally here.
I told our builder that day that I might pitch a tent and live there for the next 6 months because every step of the building process is fascinating to me. Maybe I won't be as annoying to all the workers if I bring treats to the job site? :)
Day 2 did not look much different, but I took a picture anyway!
